Golf in St Augustine?

Sorry, but not a golfer. Some of my guests liked and played at Royal St. Augustine on State Road 16, just minutes from the Old City. Here is a discussion from T/A re golf here.

Of course, there is World Golf Village, I just had a pro golfer stay as a guest and she loved the course, but was over $100. to play, because it is famous, I guess. Hopefully some golfers will answer this post.

The two ';reasonably priced'; courses I recommend for this area are

1. StJohns Golf Club--Very nice county course with 27 holes--www.sjcgc.com---904-209-0350

2. Royal St. Augustine--Very nice public course closer to the historical district. They also have daily specials including lunch--www.royalstaugustine.com---904-824-4653

P.S. We also have two great course not so reasonable priced at the World Golf Village.

The King and the Bear

The Slammer and Squire

there is also another golf course at st augustine shores on usi south.

If u are into miniature golf there is one in downtown next to the city marina, another one is after passing bridge of lions its on right hand side on aia on anastasia island .Other one is on st augustine beach on aia beach blvd.

I%26#39;m curious about the name Royal St Augustine. Over here in the UK, I don%26#39;t think a golf course can use ';Royal'; in its title unless it has Royal patronage or seal of approval. Is it not the same in the US? And if it is then does anyone know which Royal played on the St Augustine course?

Over here in America where we are not ruled by ';royalty';, you can use the Royal name and it doesn%26#39;t mean anything special. Why would it have to indicate or relate to anything ';royal'; from the UK here?

Thanks for your reply Mahoney. I wasn%26#39;t suggesting that the Royal title HAD to have some connection with British Royalty (or any royalty), merely asking if it DID.

St. Johns Golf Club -- public course, but the best golf in the area.

Royal St. Augustine -- very nice, beautifully kept, but, as they have started advertising as though it%26#39;s a good thing, it%26#39;s target golf. The fairways are incredibly narrow, making for a bad experience.

St. Augustine Shores -- a joke; in bad shape; for example, one par 4 is a flat, straight 248-yarder (which officially can%26#39;t be a par 4) with no hazards.

World Golf Village -- overpriced, but nice.
