A different route from N Ga to PCB

Like everyone else we%26#39;re trying to save on gas this ';short'; trip. It worked out last minute to even go for 3 days, needless to say we%26#39;re thankful since we had to cancel all together awhile back!!! As everyone from N Ga knows, the route from Phenix City Al to PCB is alot of traffic lights %26amp; stop %26amp; go. I%26#39;ve looked at the map %26amp; has anyone ever stayed on I-85 over to Montgomery then to 231 down to 98? Just a thought because our vehicle gets good hwy mileage, but terrible city mileage. Any suggestions on other routes would be appreciated!!!!

A different route from N Ga to PCB

Sweet GA Peach....Coming from north of Nashville, we take I-65 south through B-ham and MGM and then take 231 all the way into PC. This has been the route we have always taken on every trip to PC and as much a tradition as anything else. However this year we%26#39;re considering a different route b/c there are alot of towns to travel through w?/stop and go traffic.

See what others think....

I have taken 231 when going from Birmingham to PCB. There was one way I took many years ago where you stay on I85 into Alabama then take hwy 169 which feeds into 431 in the town of Seale which is between Eufala and Phenix City. It saved a few minutes at best on the trip. I have also taken the Phenix City bypass once and will never do it again. I always take 185 to the Victory Dr exit, this takes you across the river into Alabama then you head south on 431. Not nearly as many redlights as the other bypass!
