looking to buy sat nav, which one
If you havn%26#39;t got satnav here in the UK, then i%26#39;d recommend buying one over here. The 2 i%26#39;d recommend, which come with European, and North American maps preloaded, are TomTom go 920/t, and Garmin%26#39;s Nuvi 270.
Not sure on current prices, but i think the TomTom%26#39;s running around 拢250, and the Garmin around 拢175
If you just want a US one to use when on vacation, then checkout the likes of bestbuy.com, and Circuitcity.com. They run at around $190 and up, depending on brand and specification.
Good luck!

The TomTom recommendation is a good one. We bought ours over there (but the 910 when it first came out). It worked great there and does back here too and already has all the maps. Maybe someone else knows if Europe and Canada is included when you buy it here because I%26#39;m assuming with the exchange rate you%26#39;d get a better deal.
I was directed by a previous poster to www.satnaveasy.co.uk which seemed to have a good deal on a TomTom with preinstalled North America maps. Halfords recently also had a sale on sat navs but I am not sure if the sale is still running.
Keep in mind that you still need some basic info and a good back up map wouldn%26#39;t hurt. Ours told us to exit the Florida Turnpike on Consulate Drive and that would have been a mistake as it is a SunPass only exit (don%26#39;t ask me why they would even have these, but...) and we could have gotten a ticket had we gotten off there.
we recently took a Garmin Nuvi 200W with us and it only had problems with 1 junction in the whole of the Disney/Orlando/International Drive areas, for some reason it thought Jct 64B off the I4 started half a mile after it did so the turn off was past by the time it was telling you to leave the I4.
Not sure if this junction has recently been updated or if it was just one of those little glitches you hear about.
I %26#39;obtained%26#39; the North America map though and didn%26#39;t purchase it, not sure I would have bought it at 拢95, a little bit steep when I only needed one section or is that just me being Yorkshire and tight?
The rental companies are charging around $10/day so if you only ever intend to use it once it is cheaper to rent but otherwise better to buy the American map (or `obtain` one if you know someone who can get one)
Sorry to hijack this post but we are also looking to purchase a sat nav and am looking at tomtom 910 or garmin nuvi 270.
Am a total novice at anything electrical and want the most easiest to use and load with points of interest.
Any advice re above two navs would be really appreciated.

We hired a Garbage(sorry Garmin) on our 1st every visit to Orlando and it had us going round in circles if it managed to recognise that there was an exit..........then we bought US map for our TomTom that we have at home we never missed an exit and always got where we wanted to be. Just wish we had taken the TomTom 1st time round.......would have saved many arguments LOL
Ours is a Garmin 330 (I think) and except for a couple of small glitches (the Consulate drive could have been a big one) it worked excellent and was easy as touching the screen to enter or find things. The mileage numbers were right on the money with the highway signs and it even showed the lakes and rivers along the way.
