Flight prices

I am new to this DIY thing so please bear with me.

I have been looking at prices for our holiday to Orlando in 2009. The flight prices have just been released for the dates I was thinking of going. These dates are not set in stone but wanted to go in April/May time avoiding Easter.

The cheapest I have found flight prices are Virgin Atlantic%26#39;s own website. Price is quoted at 拢436.80 per adult. Do these prices fluctuate throughout the year? Are they likely to go up? I assume if you wait until the last minute or wait for them to have a sale they will go down, but are they likely to go down by much. Is it better to wait for a sale or is there any benefit to booking early?

If you%26#39;ve found Virgin flights for 拢436.80, then i%26#39;d book them. I really can%26#39;t see you beating that price by much at all for a scheduled direct service.

The last time i checked with VA for 03/05/09, they were averaging 拢600. Go for it, if you can.

It really isn%26#39;t true anymore that you get a bargain if you wait until the last minute especially with flights.

In fact I would book these Virgin flights now as they could very possibly chuck on a another fuel charge at anytime

If you have booked and paid in full you are OK (checked this with Virgin last week)

my and my girlfriend went this year 21th april for two weeks..we paid 拢326 each with bmi..but i could have booked the same fight for 拢299 when bmi had a sale on in jan. As for virgin late 2007 they had a sale which i could have got the flight for 拢332. i waited to see if they would come down..they did not.

so yes wait because all the airline will have sale but do not wait to long...Most poeple in he uk book there hol in jan so the airlines have sale late in the year or early feb.

its ok saying wait but in the current situation there may not be enough flights as many will be cancelled unless full.

they will cancel fall/winter flights, but flights for april will be booked in higher numbers.

I%26#39;d say the price you got was a good one for April/May. Normally I%26#39;d tell you to wait for their sale in August, but I%26#39;d book at that price.

yes the prices fluctuate but the price you%26#39;ve seen seem pretty good. Check also airline network, trailfinders and expedia etc..apparently expedia is cheaper on a Weds. Advantage of Virgin website is you can reserve seats now. Do check BA as well, sometimes work out cheaper...

In passed slow downs the late thing to be hit was the hol market...This is because the one thing people like is a break..

Seems a reasonable price - you may get it a little cheaper through another source - we have had good experience with www.bestattravel.co.uk for getting virgin prices cheaper than from virgin direct.

Can%26#39;t book right now as I haven%26#39;t got the money yet but I will have in the next week or so.

Phossymike - I couldn%26#39;t find a flight only option on Bestattravel%26#39;s website. Was I not looking properly?? Actually got a great price for flight and hotel I have been looking at on there, so thanks for that. I will look into that further.

Eeek - that price I got from Virgin yesterday has gone up to 拢479.80 per adult. That adds almost 拢120 to total price.

What makes the price change in 1 day?? Will it continue to go up?

I am wondering if I should just book on credit card as I will have the money to pay for it by the time CC statement comes in.
