best time to book for April 09

Hi, we are looking to book hol for NEXT April into May for 4 adults and two 15 yr olds.. Have looked at Virgin flydrives/TCD coming in at around 拢3000 or just over with car insurances etc but cannot get individual flight prices yet to price it up independently.

When is best time to try to get a package put together?

Bearing in mind we want a villa in or around Formosa Gardens area which we won`t really be able to book until we have flights secured.

We booked our December 2008 Holiday in September 2007 for 拢2,000 and at the moment for exactley the same Holiday they want 拢4400!!!

So i would say book early.

Is that for over Xmas tho as that would be peak time wouldn`t it?

We are going in mid season so don`t expect it to be quite so busy. Have seen people saying about waiting for Virgin sales around September time but not sure if that means the next years flights are cheaper or what. At the moment it comes out at around 拢3k with the vehicle insurance so is roughly 拢500 ea. Obviously with a villa still to pay for.

What is peoples advice? Would we be better waiting till flight only deals come out and book car seperate thru Hertz or someone? Or would we be better waiting while nearer the date we want to go, ie, September for these flight sales?

Advice would be much appreciated as I am ready to book something really and just don`t want to end up paying well over the odds as with there being 6 of us even a little saving adds up.

If you are looking to book scheduled flights the cheapest time to book these is as soon as the flights are released, which is roughly 330 days before the flight dates

i too would say booking as early as possible tends to get your the better prices...

I%26#39;ve just booked to go next may (2nd) for 18n....when the the price first came out it was around 拢100 short of what they are now...unfortunatly we weren%26#39;t able to book back then...

Same with flights....we%26#39;ve again just booked for December coming up (but to LA)...when first released was 拢403...we booked a few weeks back for 拢433...its now around 拢439...

I know the scheduled flight prices only go up but wasn`t sure about the charters. Also wondered about these sales that I have seen mentioned (from Virgin).

I am just waiting for one person to confirm hol dates from uni then we should be able to book and by that time I reckon the flights will be showing up on expedia and the like, cos at the moment they only show till the end of April and we cannot ge prices for returning 7th May.

The prices we have got are from Tour ops (Virgin flydrive/TCD/Thomsons etc as they obviously book their own flights earlier.

If you are travelling well clear of Easter next year (Easter Monday is April 13th) then you can probably afford to hang on.

If you want a specific day/airline....i.e. Virgin on a Saturday, you may be better off booking now. I would buy the flight and car seperately - look for a car deal nearer the time with Alamo or Dollar or use Expedia.

Last thing to bear in mind is the ever increasing fuel surcharge....rules vary from airline to airline but if you book %26amp; pay now you may be spared further increases - worth checking out.....

I have booked flight only from Newcastle to Sanford with www.flythomascook.com also on 2nd May %26#39;09. There%26#39;s only Thos.Cook (using Monach airlines) and Thomsonfly that go from Newcastle so choice is somewhat limted. I booked at the end of April and paid 拢1265 for the two us in the Premium Cabin. This was after a discount of 拢85 because I booked through our bank%26#39;s travel service. We always pay through the nose for flying from a regional airport (but that is my choice). I still need a car and insurance package and accommodation, but I can sort that out nearer the time.

xyster, your price of 拢3000 for six people with car and insurance looks really good to me!
