New York To Orlando Questions

As the price of flights to Orlando are rising at such a fast pace I dont think im prepared to pay these silly prices for what is a very sub-standard service.

Im now looking at flying to New York then Driving down ,the recommended time is 3 days i presume this is with overnight stops as looking at the mileage 1090 that seems a long time .

My Question is two fold has anyone on here driven this and is there a second route you could recommend so on the return the family could see more of the countryside .

One way down to Orlando and a different route back but nearly the same in mileage.

Have you checked flights from New York to Tampa. We are going in August and booked a flight from Newark to Tampa significantly cheaper than to MCO. We are renting a car in Tampa. Drivetime to Orlando about 1 hr 15 minutes.

New York To Orlando Questions

We drive down from the Washington DC area and it takes us 13 hours (865 miles)and we drive it all in one day. If you are driving from New York it should take you about 17-18 hours. I don%26#39;t think it will take you 3 days unless you plan to stop and sight see on the way down.

Nemmis- It is not a 3 day trip unless you stop to see several things. I have driven 24 hours to Ft. Lauderdale from Connecticut which is north of New York. If driving your best route to see things would be to stay on 95 along the shore. You can also cut inland and go down into North Carolina then hit the Gulf coast before going inland to Orlando.

You can get cheap flights from NY to Orlando and it might be cheaper depending how many in your party. It would be good to see NYC before flying, this is a must do if you have not already.

Try Jetblue for the best flights from NYC. TV%26#39;s on the back of the seat.

Boston is 24 hours to Orlando and NY is 4 hrs south of here so 20 hrs to Orlando. I did it once (never again) and we stopped one nite. I am sure you can do it all in one day if you have 2 people driving - or at least just do one overnite stop.

I agree with one of the other posters, look into Newark to Tampa. I%26#39;m flying that route and it%26#39;s a lot cheaper. Also, my family has done the drive to Florida from New JErsey to Florida (We are right by New York City) and it took us one day making a few stops. I think 3 days is TOO MUCH for driving and for your family. It might be different if you are renting a RV, but also think about gas prices. Flying is probaly best!

I think for those of us who live on the east coast and have driven to Florida the census is no, but being from another country you might see things differently.

You can stop at several places along the way, Seaside Heights or Atlantic City in New Jersey, Washington D.C, Myrtle Beach, South of the Border.

Inland route, you can inland to Lake George, NY or Poconos and work your way south going to some race tracks or stopping in Nashville TN then heading to the Gulf Coast then inland to Orlando.

Thanks for the tips folks the 95 seems like a good route for a bit of sightseeing on the way down ,is there a return route that would take us a different way but is not to much longer.

The flight tips are great but they would enjoy seeing a bit of the real America not the plastic of Orlando that they get each year.

I have done this route. The first time was very nice but it got old. The traffic around D.C. can be rough and construction in The Carolinas can go on forever. There are many who enjoy this ride, I am not one.

I am sure you have dome the math. How much do you expect to save. Add a few hundred to your driving projections for unexpected costs.

If you%26#39;ve only done the Theme parks I can see why you think Orlando is ';plastic';.

I for one would welcome a change and jump at the chance of seeing something different.

NYC has many things to see and do, there are a lot of historical stops along I-95 and some wonderful scenery too.

Matter of fact if you%26#39;ve been to Orlando so many times I would consider taking a driving trip throughout the States instead.

Have u checked the through fares to orlando rather than the direct ones, eg via Newark, Philidelphia, Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta or Washington etc. You often get better deals that way rather than adding orlando flights to New york ones. I personally think you will spend more in fuel and miles of looking over the bonnet of a car rather then enjoying Florida! Ive done the touring bit, and unless your prepared to plan out and read up on overnight stops you will turn your holiday into an endurance test !
