This trip was a family vacation but mainly for our kids (19 and 11). My wife booked it online and we purchased the tickets for ';Universal Studios'; and ';Islands of Adventure'; with the Full Meal Deal, Sea World, and Wet %26amp; Wild Fun Park. By staying at one of the Universal Resorts, (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel, or Portofino Bay), we were able to use our room key card for the Express pass lines in the Universal Parks. (we stayed at The Royal Pacific) This was a very nice option as we were able to see many of the attractions with little or no waiting time. We also purchased the Shuttle pick up service from the Airport and back on 05/31. This was worth every cent as the driver was waiting for us, on time, and we even pulled off the road, on going back to the Airport, to watch the Space Shuttle launch on Saturday. Probably, a once in a lifetime sight for us.
The Royal Pacific was nice and the room was comfortable, even with the 4 of us in one room with two queen beds. We were there only to sleep and shower before going off on our daily trips. Our first day didn%26#39;t go so well as when we tried to go to Sea World, we were told we couldn%26#39;t get our tickets there, we had to pick them up at Universal Studios since we purchased them through A Package with Universal. So, after another taxi ride back to Universal ($20.00 each way) We had all the tickets in hand. (The documents we had, stated nothing about where or how to pick up our tickets). We ended up going to Universal Studios on day one and eating dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co that night located at the CityWalk area between the Universal Parks. Transportation was by water taxi%26#39;s (free) between the Universal hotels and the CityWalk area.
Day two didn%26#39;t start out any better as we were told the SeaWorld Shuttle (a bus) between The Royal Pacific and Sea World left at 10:30 and came back around 5:30 pm. (Told by a well meaning but incorrect Royal Pacific Employee) We arrived at 10:20 at the shuttle pick up site only to meet people who had been at the shuttle pick up site since before 10:00am. (The correct time of Pick up) Anyway, the shuttle never showed due to being caught in traffic from a motor vehicle accident that had slowed traffic... After some mild complaining by the group, The Royal Pacific gave us all vouchers for taxi%26#39;s (which the taxi drivers were reluctant to take). So, on to Seaworld for us. Seaworld was a great experience but, one day was enough. The shows ';Blue Horizons'; and ';Believe'; were awesome. NOTE : When the seats say ';SOAK ZONE'; you better believe it. SHAMU WILL SOAK YOU !!! That was the funniest thing I saw that day. The rest of SeaWorld was a lot like the zoo for us, with the exception of some rides. We also wish we had been able to try Aquatica, SeaWorlds water park. Dinner was at The Royal Pacific at Jake%26#39;s American Bar that night.
Day three we went to the ';Wet %26amp; Wild'; water park and just soaked up some sun sliding down the water slides. This park was alot of fun but inconvenient with constantly going to lockers. We had dinner at ';Margaritaville'; that night and shopped. The pool at The Royal Pacific was very nice. The employees were friendly and helpful. However, for my wife and I, The Royal Lacked some of the things we like such as, a coffee shop or snack bar. There was no place to go to get coffee or a danish/donut in the mornings with out going to the restaurant and eating the buffet. There are some gift shops with snacks (big bags of chips, cookies, sodas, and water) but, nothing like a Starbucks Coffee shop, Ice Cream Shops, Sandwhiches, etc. The other Hotels like Hard Rock or The Portofino Bay had these places. The rooms have coffee brewers in them with Emerils brand coffee but, it was almost intolerable to drink. I think maybe, they are trying to keep the atmosphere of The Royal Pacific ';Southeast Asian'; , Just my Opinion...
Day four, we went to Islands of Adventure and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe at CityWalk. The full meal deal at the Universal Parks, while in theory was convenient, started to affect us a little (Park Food). It was getting to be inconvenient getting lockers to store our items for some rides as well. (Things you don%26#39;t want to get wet, loose items that can%26#39;t be taken on some rides). After Dinner we rode the water taxi%26#39;s to see the Hard Rock Hotel and The Portofino Bay Hotel. Definately beautiful locations, and a different atmosphere than The Royal Pacific. But, keep in mind, by staying at the Royal Pacific, we could have used the ammenities of the other hotels as well...If we only had more time ...
Day five, we went back to Universal Studios to see the sights and rides we really liked the first time. (The Mummy and The Simpsons) We then went back to the Royal Pacific to check out and go to the Airport. But, of course, we had one last little delay as American Airlines had delayed our flight for 5 hours... And, of course, they had called our home phone and left a message about it there. Another lesson learned by us, ';Call the Airport about your return flight';... Overall, It was a great time, We just hope that some of the things we learned will help someone else on their trip to this location.

Trip Report 05/27 - 05/31 Universal Studios
Thanks for sharing your trip. Surprising that the hotel didn%26#39;t have a little coffee shop/cafe. How was the meal at Jake%26#39;s?
Jake%26#39;s was good, but, He didn%26#39;t open till later in the day. I don%26#39;t remember the hours...The only morning option was at the main restaurant for a breakfast buffet.
