We will be in Daytona next week!!
I was wondering besides the Beach, what are your 3 other favorite things to do in Daytona?
I am very excited about our trip!
Greyhound racing, Daytona Speedway tour and Imax, eating at Aunt Catfish%26#39;s on the river.
Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Sit on the deck at Inlet Harbor with a cool drink and listen to the live music and go the farmer%26#39;s market at the Daytona Flea Market.
I always loved Greyhound racing and the Nascar museum. For food, gotta eat at Aunt Catfish%26#39;s! We also loved to play putt putt in the evenings.
NASCAR (Daytona Speedway), buying fresh produce at the Flea/Farmers market (and walking around looking at all the stuff), and catching a Cubs game at Jackie Robinson Ball Park.
The old greyhound track has closed and reopened around the corner after 50 years at the old location. The new site is supposed to be very high tech. If you go past the old track heading west, I believe you turn left at the first light, go past the speedway and it is within a mile on that road.
To be honest with you it is very hard to pull yourself away from that gorgeous beach! We do however enjoy swimming in the pool after dark seeing the stars overhead, feeling the warm gentle ocean breeze and hearing the surf maybe 50 feet away from the pool. Going down to Ponce Inlet around 4:30 P.M. to watch the charters bring in the catch of the day, small sharks, red snapper, grouper, etc, they clean them right there for the guests that were on the boat. Watching the beautiful sunrise come up out over the ocean. Getting my fill of the awesome butter pecan ice cream at Zeno%26#39;s, seeing the fireworks reflect out over the ocean off the pier on Sat, nights. Being able to drive on the beach with my window down seeing the beautiful Atlantic not 20 feet away, watching the pelicans dive for fish, I could go on forever.......

I love spending time with my family, doing things like putt-putt, greyhound racing, walking around the boardwalk, etc. - going down to Ponce Inlet and walking out to the jetty - and sitting out on the decks at Inlet Harbor (me too teachrsue!!), Racing%26#39;s North Turn, Down the Hatch, or Ocean Deck with the wind blowing through my hair, just taking it all in!!
We had a couple of new experiences at Daytona this summer..... there was a small (maybe 30 inch) shark washed up on shore one day, it looked like it had been bitten by something larger.
Another day when we went to the flea market, one of the rest rooms was all decked out like someone lived there and there was a guy who welcomed you to the rest room, pointed out the empty urinal or stall and then stood there waiting for you to finish, and then pointing out the sink and towels to dry your hands. Even one of the newer buildings had a tip bowl in the rest room... for what? I was a little uneasy about not tipping as I left the first restroom with the guy standing pretty much in the doorway blocking it. I am not sure why the flea market management would allow this, but if you go there, be forewarned.
I had posted a nice review from last year, but after our experience at the flea market this year and seeing how it has gone down hill, we may not go back.
Playing tennis at McElroy park, bike riding along Peninsula Drive, and simply walking the beach down near the Sunglow Pier.
