Well, I%26#39;ve tried googling this and can%26#39;t reall seem to get any information. There are several options for renting a pontoon boat for the day. My question is, where do you take the boat once you%26#39;ve rented it? I read about Shell Island in PC but don%26#39;t want to drive there to rent one. Is there any place like that in Destin where you can dock your boat, picnic and just hang out? Also... who%26#39;s the best to rent from? Thanks a bunch!

Crab Island is the obvious answer here, but there are isolated spots all through the bay. please don%26#39;t take a pontoon out the Pass to the gulf. Big Mistake and can get you %26amp; yours hurt. Also don%26#39;t wear an adjustable hat backwards as you pilot the craft cause when you go to dinner you%26#39;ll have to cover or explain the stripe and half moon tan on your forehead. I speak from experience on the hat.

We rented 1 last year from Florida Girls Pontoon rentals. They are located next to the Boathouse in the Harbor. You might do a TA search on pontoons %26amp; read about other companies. We rode in the Harbor area, then went to Crab Island %26amp; put out an anchor %26amp; stayed there several hours. There are several sandy areas close to the bridge you can dock the pontoon on.
We had a lot of fun %26amp; are planning on doing it again this summer.

You always see people on the beach(bayside) between Destin and FWB could you ride a pontoon to that area.
You should only take the Pontoon boat into the bay. There are some very beautiful places you can go..NEVER take the pontoon boat into the Gulf. They are not made to withstand the turbulence of the Gulf.
Okay time to show my ignorance of direction, and boating, and many other things. Keep in mind I have never rented a pontoon in Destin. When you are coming into Destin from FWB On your left that water where you see people windsurfing or whatever it is they are doing. And the big sanddunes are on your right. Is the area on your left considered the bay. That is the area I was thinking of. I am looking for a safe area for the girls to get off awhile and play while the boys fish on.
I should add the guys are familiar with boating and pontoons. I just need a little direction.

Yes, coming from FWB to Destin, the area to the left (north) is the bay.
We rented ours from Sunshine Pontoon Rentals last year. We thought they had the nicest equipment. We also have a furry child and he was allowed on without problem even though they were newer boats.
