plz help if anyone can, the photo part of my husbands licence has broke in half, you can still see his pic and all, will this matter?? arriving in sanford and i think its dollar

Can you stick it together with super glue? Re-inforce on the back with the very wide clear packing tape. You can cut it to fit. Better bring yours just in case.

he was thimking of laminating it, it maybe can be stuck together, i really dont want to drive myself. and i go in 5 weeks so not sure if that is enough time to get a new 1

you should have time to renew it. we renewed ours last month and it came back within a week. It%26#39;s just a bit of a gamble, I%26#39;d give the DVLA a ring.

You might be okay as you have to produce the paper part too.

because you have the photo type licence you can order a new one by phone or online, no need to send new photo etc, also dollar are only interested in the paper part, every time i have offered both parts of mine they just want the paper bit

I applyed for a Plastic driving licence on line other week did it on a Monday evening arrived in post on Thursday.

I would get a new one if I were you. Whenever we%26#39;ve been there, the rental coutners only care about the card part of your drivers license, as thats all they have in America. I%26#39;ve got the paper bit out a couple of times to show them, and everytime they%26#39;ve said they don%26#39;t want to (or don%26#39;t need to) see it. If a cop in the UK stopped you, they wouldn%26#39;t consider your cut-in-half-stuck-back-together license to be valid, so you should get a new one anyway to be honest. You could also try e-mailling Dollar and asking if they would accept it. I%26#39;ve e-mailed them before, and they%26#39;ve been quite quick to respond.

we will take the chance and just go with the broken licence, it aint really that bad

Just a warning, in some states they clip a corner of your old license when you move to another state and get a new one, making your old license invalid. Depending who is at the rental/hire counter or if you get stopped you may have a problem.
