Hello, I will arrive in PCB on June 21 with 4 teens ages 16 - 18. They were asking if they can go to La Vela. Honestly, I have very mixed feelings about letting them go. I am aware they have a teen night, and I was wondering if the teens are kept completely secluded from the older crowd? I have lectured them about staying together and keeping an eye out for the others. I worry that somebody might try to take advantage of them. I am not concerned that they may want to drink, I am mostly worried for their safety at such a large place. I would appreciate any insight one might have about the place. My co-worker let his teen boys go both at night and during the day and they were fine.

Justagirl---Understand completely where you%26#39;re coming from as I%26#39;ll be in your same shoes end of July. Are your teens boys, girls or both?? As much as I hate to say it, I think it does make a difference. I have 3 girls but my oldest daughter%26#39;s bf is going w/us as well as my best friend and her 3 kids. Her 2 oldest kids are 18 and 16 at time of travel. So we%26#39;ll have 2 boys that are 18, my daughter that will be 2 weeks short of 17 and my friend%26#39;s daughter that will be 16. I think if they want to go, we%26#39;ll let them b/c we trust the boys to watch out for the girls and know the girls are pretty level headed young ladies. From my understanding security is pretty tight. I%26#39;d really like to hear some feedback from other parents who have let their kids go.
Thanks for a good post....

Teens %26amp; La Vela
Hello Karen,
The group consists of 2 girls (ages 16 %26amp; 17) although one girl will also be a few weeks shy of her 17th birthday. 2 boys ages 17 and 18. I trust the boys to look out for the girls, big brother has always been protective of lil sis. I also believe the kids to be level headed and trust they can make good decisions. I was hoping that since they would be in a group it would be fine to let them go. I am glad to hear that security is tight, that is what I am looking for. I am mostly concerned about the older group at the club filtering in with the younger group. It is my hope that they are kept completely separated.
I know that we have to let them have their wings and go about the world, however that doesn%26#39;t make it any easier for us parents! It has been a while since we were able to take a family vacation and we picked PCB because it offered more for the kids to do. I want them to really enjoy this vacation and have lots of great memories. So maybe I am over thinking letting them have some freedom, to much.
I hope to hear from parents that have let their teens go and see what their thoughts are about it.
