I have been overanalyzing this decision for so long and I%26#39;m finally throwing my hands up in despair and hoping that someone can just tell me which one to go with! We are going in October for 10 nts and are a family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 girls ages 11, 8, and 5.
I currently have booked:
Hilton Grand Vacation Club Int. Dr. - 2 bdr $259/nt
Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa - 3 bdr $159/nt
WorldQuest Resort - 3 bdr $159/nt
Floridays - 2 bdr $140/nt
Marriott Grand Vista - 2bdr $219/nt w/$30 per day food credit
What%26#39;s most important to us is ease of commute to the Disney parks (we are renting a car), a nice pool, and NICE accomodations. Ok, I%26#39;ll admit that I%26#39;m a bit of a hotel snob, but since we are going to be there for so long, we really need it to be nice. Anyone have any advice?
Have reservations at 5 hotels - please help me choose!!
I don%26#39;t have any experience with any of these locations.
However, I can say that any of them located in Lake Buena Vista will be very close and very convenient to the Disney venues. Anything on I-Drive, especially the north end, is very unconvenient to Disney, but convenient to Universal.
Hopefully, someone on the forum will have stayed at one of these at some point.

Been LBV resort village %26amp; spa last year when it was new and only 2 buildings..its now 5 and just finishing an additional pool. My personal experience was very good, really spacious, there was 3 adults and 4 children in my party and there was more than enough room..only thing i didnt like was the lack of cleaning equipment (No dustpan/ brush/ hoover etc) and there was no cleaning service unless you paid. Since you intend to stay 10days you will have to get it cleaned at least once (around $40 a time). It took us around 5-10mins to get from the hotel parking lot into the parking lots at disney so is really close. Some of the top floors accomodation you can watch the fireworks from your room (In the distance of course) And there is a huge walmart superstore about 1 min away.
I can be a snob when it comes to hotels also and this was fine for me.
I thought I was the only nutter out there who made too many reservations! I had 6 at one point for our trip in 2 weeks. I say relax and just choose. It will all work out in the end!
All these resorts have easy access to Disney.
IMO I would surely go with a 3 rather than a 2 bedroom- I know how moody little girls can be, and they tend to %26#39;need their space%26#39;. (so that leaves off Hilton and Floridays). I would also avoid the ones with present construction (noise and dust) (so that eliminates World Quest and Floridays). Marriott has a really nice pool, but kind of off by itself. If your girls are into shopping, Lake Buena Vista resort Village is literally steps from a really nice outlet mall, but the pool is plain. Enjoy your trip.
Just curious.......why didn%26#39;t you choose a Disney hotel? They are all nice, and they have free service to all the parks either by bus, boat or monorail. I would say for the ulitmate Disney experience stay at a Disney hotel...........
I have been to 3 of them. HGVC, Floridays, and MGV. MGV of those 3 is probably the best deal. HGVC is the nicest and has a lot around it, like Publix, the outlet mall, etc, but is going to cost the most. I don%26#39;t think I would pay that much more for it. I didn%26#39;t like Floridays becasue it was open to anyone who wants to drive in. HGCV and MGV both are gated. Not that there are really any security risks, but it is nice to know that you can%26#39;t just drive through. If you are looking for close to Disney, you may want to check out Bonnet Creek.
The 2bd rooms are very roomy and plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 girls. MGV has fun pools and there are also activities for kids. If you plan on spending any time at the resort, you will reall like it.
Klmurphy2005, I can%26#39;t speak for minnesotaS but we went with a LBV property insetad of Disney because you can get such a larger room for a much lower rate than on WDW Prop. For the cost of a 312 sq. foot moderate I am getting a 600plus sq foot 1 bedroom suite. Plus my husband likes some time to get away from all the Disney and have a break.
Norgetroll.....I can understand that. I was just curious because Minnesota Sconie said what was most important was the ease of commute, a nice pool, and nice accomodations. It just seems to me that the perfect solution for these three things is a Disney Hotel, but I can understand wanting to get away from it for a bit. I always take my kids to the Disney resorts because they love the whole disney experience. Especially when they were little. Plus we don%26#39;t typically spend alot of time in our room. I was curious if Minnesota Sconie was having problems findind a WDW hotel within thier budget. :o)
Sorry, should%26#39;ve been more clear - went to the World 5 years ago and stayed on site in a 1BDR at the Beach Club Villas. Now with the addition of the extra child, we would need a 2bdrm and it was $800/nt. Times 10 nights, well, you can do the math. Just RIDICULOUS! On top of that, the accomodations at the BCV were very nice, but getting a little worn, and that was 5 years ago. Just thought the value wasn%26#39;t there. I mean, I love to spend money as much as or more than the next person, but even I know when it%26#39;s a poor value, LOL!
I%26#39;m laughing again at the fact that I have so many reservations - can you tell I%26#39;m a type A?? I guess it%26#39;s because there is so much about a trip to Disney that you CAN%26#39;T control (weather, kids behaving, getting sick, etc, etc) that I am trying to manage the things that I can control.....
Thanks for the suggestions SO much, keep %26#39;em coming! I%26#39;ve been reading voraciously on this forum for 6 months and I just knew I would get some help here :)

I%26#39;ve got three boys and quite often stay at Cypress Pointe Resort, just a short hop from DTD. 3 bed 3 baths, full kitchen and W/D. should run you $150 or less.
Easy commute to Disney, just off exit 68 for universal etc, and walking distance to lots of restaurants if you don%26#39;t want to drive in the evening. Only an $8-9 taxi frm DTD, or a longish walk.
