best place to stay re bars clubs- int drive

Hi

We are going to orlando in may are late twentys where is the best place to stay on international drive for bars clubs and resteraunts? We are hiring a car and will drive in the day but want to drink at night and want to be near bars and clubs so taxis are not a fortune. Are there any good but quite cheap hotels that anyone can recommend? Where is the best area to stay? Thanks

';It depends';, what kind of places you like and what your budget is. If you are going to I-Drive, I personally would try to get a place south of Sand Lake Road. It%26#39;s a bit quieter and a bit more up-market yet still within easy reach of ';everything';.

By the way I would also recommend that you go at least once to ';howl at the moon'; and I bet you will go back. It%26#39;s on I-Drive next to Bahama Breeze.

If you stay somewhere like the Rodeway Inn, then you can walk home from Universal%26#39;s citywalk, cause that what we%26#39;ve done.

Also its very close to TGI fridays, which do really get ultimate cocktails!

Or if you stay at the Quality Inn Plaza, thats really close to point orlando and there are places to drink slightly futher down from there also.

Real clubs in that area would be Matrix, Club Destiny and JJ Whispers. Anywhere between Central Florida Parkway and Sand Lake Rd is the busier areas. Also the clubs at Citywalk

Thanks very much for your replies. We are really confused. Are the bars at universal city walk really family orientated and more eating places or are there some good over 21 drinking bars / clubs around there? Are there any bars around sand lake road or are we better going nearer downtown orlando? Thanks

The Bars/clubs at City Walk are mostly over 21s and is definitely worth dropping by. I believe that there is a karaoke type bar but rather than singing to backing tracks there is a live band. This place has one night where it is 18+.

Howl at the moon is 21+ and I would recommend it. It is about 1/2 a mile south of Sand Lake Road.

Take a look ....

Citywalk is family friendly, but most of the bars/nightclubs are upstairs, whereas restaurants are down.

The bars/nightclubs at city walk are over 21%26#39;s:

Pat O鈥橞rien鈥檚, Bob Marley - A Tribute to Freedom, The Groove, The Red Coconut Club. The new one which opened march 21st is Rising Star karaoke club, thats the one you sing with a live band.

They ID you at the door and the last time we went they gave us wrist bands to wear, which mean%26#39;t we were over 21 but they still check as well.

If I remember correctly Jimmy Buffett%26#39;s does good cocktails but is also a restaurant so lets kids in. Same with Hard Rock, NASCAR Sports Grille and NBA City. All place you can drinks at the bar but can also eat.

I would suggest staying between Universal and I-drive. There is the DoubleTree on Kirkman but not sure of the cost. There may be other hotels suggested near Wet n Wild on I-drive. All the places mentioned are fairly easy to get to and shouldn%26#39;t cost a fortune by taxi. Citywalk is fun and there are live bands at Margaritaville and at Bob Marley%26#39;s with lots of dancing. The Groove is a dance club good for your age group. Pat O%26#39;Briens has great hurricane drinks.

Cricketer Arms is locatedin Festival Bay on I-drive and is a fun place to drink and hang out. Good place for locals and tourists to mingle and good drink prices. Orlando Ale House is on Kirkman. It%26#39;s a sports bar but very popular with cheap drinks and a great way to start out your night. Howl at the Moon is a fun piano bar...it used to be located in downtown Orlando and it was regular hang out for locals.
