I dont get it

It seems like that it is impossible to get into a restaurant in the Disney Parks without a reservation??

Is this true??

- and if they dont have enough restaurants. Why dont they just build some more?

I dont get it

Hej Love2travel2

I am wondering about the same thing, and this dining plan if staying at Disney isn麓t a garantee YOU to get a table either ? You Have to make a reservation ???

I dont get it

This was not a problem until the disney dining plan. It used to be you only had to make reservations for the big character meals because not as many people ate in the parks. With the popularity of the dining plan, restaurant availability has become impossible without reservations.

They have a ton of restaurants. It%26#39;s just that travelers prefer to have a ';good'; meal while on vacation, so all the table service places fill up quickly.

On a Saturday night ANYWHERE here, even local places, it can easily be an hour wait for a table.

The restaurants can hold a lot of people at a time, it%26#39;s just that all those people had a reservation. It doesn%26#39;t leave many tables for walk ups.

We had a dining plan in 1994. Had to make reservations way back then too, not just at character meals.

Do you not have to make reservations at home when going out to the better places?

I don%26#39;t see what the big deal is about being organized and making some reservations. If you don%26#39;t want to, then don%26#39;t. But don%26#39;t complain when you have to eat cheeseburgers or take a 9:30 pm sitting.

It must have been very quiet when we went in Feb as we never had to wait for a table anywhere. Admittedly, we have never eaten in Disney (nor would I want to) but elsewhere is a different matter. Where are these hotels with long waits? We went from the small chains to more exclusive ones and most were very empty. One small one in a well know hotel told us (as we know the staff) that the night before they sent staff home at 7.30 as it was so quiet...only 4 people in the restaurant!.

what about ';over the counter'; services for lunch?

We will probebly not stay at the parks until dinner, but are the lines long for lunch during July?

It isn%26#39;t really impossible to get into the restaurants-it%26#39;s just if you don%26#39;t make a reservation, you have to take your chances. We reserve character meals if we are traveling with the kids;otherwise,we just make reservations a day or two in advance. Never had a problem at Disney. They don%26#39;t build more restaurants because they don%26#39;t want to have empty tables when Disney is slow-which it is on and off. We did the Dining Plan once and never again-hard to decide where we were going to be six months in advance

I noticed a comment in a similar thread to this.

How can you book in advance if you do not know what the restaurant is like, what the menu is like or what you will feel like eating that evening.

Mind you I%26#39;ve never stayed to have dinner at Disney, I have always gone to places outside and been a walk-in customer. The most I%26#39;ve had to wait is 30 min and that was while having a nice drink at the bar.

I think that Disney is pulling a fast one getting every one nervous and booking in advance and guaranteeing their income.

The ';counter service'; lines move pretty fast. They have quite a few options too. Some places have steak %26amp; veggie kabobs, soups in breadbowls, burgers, chicken cesar salads. There are a lot of choices.

We are going in July also. Most of our dinners and a few breakfasts are table service, but lunches will be counter stuff.

Leeds and DLB, you are doing yourself a disservice not to at least try Disney restaurants. The ones in the resorts and DTD particularly can be a great time/meal.

As for knowing what they are like and the menus just go to:

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#res

and when you%26#39;ve found one you like the look of the menu at, just ask us if we%26#39;ve eaten there and what we think.

And, it doesn%26#39;t cost you to make a reservation, and you can cancel it if you don%26#39;t think you can/want to get there. Just make sure you do cancel it if you aren%26#39;t going to use it as not doing so is rude.
