Air boat rides

Back on site for some advice

My wife and I and 5 friends are coming to AMI for our summer holidays in August this year.We are hoping we can get some help on air boat rides.

A few years ago we went to Everglades City for air boat ride and it was such a fabulous day we are hoping there is somewhere in AMI area that we could do it all again.

Also we are thinking of hireing a small boat for us just to have a look around the Bay.Is this advisable for us to do it on our own or is it best to stick to organised trip.

Air boat rides

Guzply, If you are not an experienced boater I would recommend that you take a guide with you or take a guided tour. The gulf waters are a lot different and a storm can turn up at any given time. It can be very dangerous if you dont know what you are doing and there are lots of sharks in the gulf.

That being said, we went out on a 30 ft Catalina SAil Boat, the Zig Zag with Captain Ed Hartung, it was a sunset cruise and we had a blast, He also does fishing charters as well. His number is 941-704-0773

If you want Airboat rides then just go to Myakka State Park...

It麓s just a 30-40 min drive from AMI and it is fun!

Have already done the Myakka Park air boat ( large one ) looking for smaller boat 6/7 seater and a bit more exiting Myakka was very good but Everglade air boat was something special,looking for something like that.

I have been looking at your other topics and find your replies very very helpful

Guzply, You are very welcome and thanks for the kind words.

I dont know if you will find anything like what you experienced in the Everglades, the air boats are more for lakes, rivers and swamps. I dont think I have ever seen one in the gulf. The sail boat was fun, you might enjoy that.

well, i doubt that you will find a ride like the airboats in the everglades, but hey, it is only a 2 hour drive! :-)

It was just an idea about the airboat.

The one thing that I would like to do and I%26#39;m not sure about the others is a hot air balloon ride any advice on that would be welcome.

I think I have read most of your posting on this site(ie places to eat) but I%26#39;m sure if I need anything you will be able to assist.

they offer excursions in every way (air, water) and I guess that they will satisfy your needs :-))

Gusply - Sounds like you are looking for some excitement, nothing wrong with that! You might want to try parasailing, my husband and his friends do that about once a year and love it. They have it available a couple of places on the island.
