siesta key v.s st petes beach

My husband and I are flying into Tampa in May and stayung in Florida for 10 days. After 5 or so nights on the beach we are planning to drive up to Savannah via St Augustine, but can%26#39;t work out which is the best beach to stay on while in Florida... St Petes area sounds like it has everything there but have read that it is over developed and tacky. we are early 30%26#39;s and just want to be able to go to nice restaurants and relax really in a nice environment. as we have baby on the way nothing too hectic! but also not too quiet and isolated either - decsisions, decisions! please help - which beach would suit us best st petes or siesta key or another one?! thks.

Siesta Key is the best beach I have ever been too. I have been to Bondi Beach in Australia, Waikiki, Maui Beaches and mexico beaches...I will always make Siesta Key my #1 pick. There is not a lot of nightlife on Siesta Key and the dining is only slightly above average. My kids and I are going in August.

Hi, We have been to the Gulf Coast a number of times, and stayed on Siesta Key. We try not to tell too many people about it as it is our little slice of paradise. Very white sandy beaches, nice little town with restaurants and pubs (try the broken egg for breakfast it%26#39;s fantastic)and some very nice bars. Try driving a little further south to

venice beach. Great restaurant called Sharkey%26#39;s where the serve a very nice lobster sandwhich. The locals tend to go to Siesta Key beach to watch the sunset, and they are all friendly. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have a great time.

If you want the best of all worlds, stay at the Lido Beach Resort on Lido Key.
