When packing light what do you bring?

We are intending to pack very light when we go to Orlando(not till 20th June am I sad or what?) There are 4 of us 2 adults and 2 kiddos and we are planning on packing only 1 suitcase between 4 of us (we are hoping to fill a few more for the trip home)LoL so what would you bring ie. ovbiously tolietries undies etc... but aside from that I%26#39;m torn we usually go to Spain for our hols and I usually shop for t shirts shorts sandals swimwear etc this time of year but so far I have reststed the urge to buy anything and just wait till we get there, am I mad?

(hope this post makes sense!)

When packing light what do you bring?

Don%26#39;t carry toiletries, buy them all once you get their as they are cheaper, we didn%26#39;t take a thing, even bought the toothbrushes in walmart for 90 cents each, just discard whats left at the end of the holiday.

Don%26#39;t take any going out clothes as you will end up eating in the parks or on the way home from the parks so nobody dresses for dinner.

Rationalise the shoes too because you will probably end up wearing the comfy pair of shoes for the whole time.

Are you staying in a villa or somewhere with washing facilities??? if so just take a weeks worth of undies and wash half way through.

When packing light what do you bring?

Siamsa3,

I%26#39;ve the same problem, we%26#39;re going this tues (22nd) and so far i have not resisted buying new clothes for going lol. Yesterday i spoke to a girl who has just returned from orlando who said that the clothes arent great for ladies more so for men, but that the shopping is amazing for the likes of perfumes, make-up trainers. So im kinda glad i bought new stuff. Though i didn%26#39;t spend too much, mostly primark (pennies) so if i do buy a load out in orlando i dont mind leaving my own stuff behind.

I will let you know in 2weeks how many suitcases i%26#39;ve brought back home.

it%26#39;s hard to know what to bring and what to leave behind.

Siamsa3, we buy the clothes we need this side of the pond as ive said it before we dont think much of fashions out there so we dont buy anything in the clothes range ,cameras ,comps ,etc yes as long as they have international warrenties.

The clothes look fine if you live out there but over here to be honest they look naff ,much better and up to date stuff can be found over here.

I know i will get shot down for saying this as ive been blasted in the past ,but if you like to look good and you like it to fit well get it before you go .

There now wait for the Shi- to hit the Fa- lol:)

Thanks for the replies;-)

cl82 Oh you must be SO excited to be going so soon we are obsessed with Orlando in this house at the minute I can%26#39;t imagine how we will be with only a few days to go!

Regarding the clothes I think you are right I will probably run out to pennys and get a few bits and pieces for us but I still only want to have 1 suitcase on the way over lol! I am looking forward to hear how you get on with the shopping etc.. I know you will have a blast and just remember when you feel like having a moan about how hot it is just remember the hail showers and driving rain you left behind LOL!

LOL Nemmis!

i don%26#39;t know how people do it!!

i have cut down every year but for me, OH and lit%26#39;lun we still go out with 2 full suitcases.

You wouldnt believe how excited i am seriously. We booked back in september, 8 of us (all couples) have hired a villa. I just sit in work all day long reading what everyone on TA has to say. I woke my boyfriend up at 9am last saturday, a si was dreaming about being at seaworld only to realise i actually wasnt there yet lol

i can only imagine how excited kids are.

As for pennies or Prada ad i like to call it, you cant go wrong. Will be sure to let you know any useful info on my return.

Just returned from Orlando on family trip, We took very little - travelled in warm stuff(long trousers/fleece), few shorts,t. shirts( cheapies or old ones to dump)Shops were amazing. Spoiled for choice, any age group, all fantastic prices. Nothing full price!! Ended up buying small cases so we could all have 10lbs hand luggage as well as full check-in weight.

Agree dont carry toiletries, waterproofs, etc. all pennys ay Walmart etc. Carried kagouls and found ponchos at Walmart for 99c!

Travel in trainers or other comfy shoes- buy cheap water/rubber shoes for parks. Leaving enough room for loads of goodies.

Dumped kids clothes before return -lovely new summer wardrobes from USA for next to nothing!!Enjoy your hols.

Old Navy is good for cheap stuff but nice and funky to wear.

I always laugh at the name of the shop ';Dress Barn';, as a big bird it puts me off as I don%26#39;t want to look like one - Barn not Dress!

I am a size 12 but a 22 is more comfortable - ha ha ha ha.

When packing light I take 1 pair of trainers which I wear on the plane over, a light denim jacket which I wear on the plane. 1 pair of flip flops, 10 pairs of Knickers - us girls sometimes change after going in the pool. I wash my stuff after the first week and take a trip to Lane Bryant to fill up the suitcase. I try and limit to 7 tops, two pairs of jeans and 5 pairs of capris.

This may not sound light but I have the advantage of a boyfriend who packs the equivalent of a carrier bag - so more stuff can be put in his rucksack for the journey home.

OMG you all amaze me! I cannot imagine going with 1 suitcase let alone 2 and we are just 2 adults and an 11 year old. I think we will be lucky if we go with 2 large suitcases and 2 carryons AND we have a washer drier in our hotel. One thing I DO intend to cut back on is shoes! Most vacations I bring at least 6 pair of shoes between sneakers, crocs, dress shoes, comfy shoes in ine color, comfy shes in another color, flip flops, slippers, etc. For this trip, I plan on wearing my comfy ugly crocs and bringing one pair of those ';nice'; looking Crocs for evenings out. Period.
