Miami (MIA) to Orlando (MCO) flights

Hello all,

What discount airlines, if any, ply this route?

What is considered a cheap one-way fare on this route?

Have looked at American Airlines, Continental and United ($102 incl. taxes was cheapest I found for Sept. date we needed) but was wondering whether anyone else has more useful information.

I am doing the same route and have been searching also.

You have found the same as me so it looks like thats as good as it gets.

Any reason you wouldn%26#39;t do a one way car rental? It would be much cheaper and by the time you factor in the pre-check in time for the flight, the time to drive (3 to 4 hours) isn%26#39;t that much longer. And it is an easy drive.

We are flying ABZ to MIA...traveling down to the the keys for a couple of days then drive to Orlando via fort lauderdale ...then returning MCO to ABZ via chicago and LHR ...(hopefully terminal 5 will be sorted by November )

Just wanted to save the hassle.....esp after a 10h flight.

Will be renting a car for a few weeks anyway (pick up Orlando, drop off Miami) and making our way down from Orlando through St. Petersburg and Sarasota to Miami (and maybe continuing down to Key West, depending on distance/time/cost).

You can usually get a very cheap flight to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale(FLL)- half an hour up the road from Miami- a much smaller more user friendly airport. Southwest Airlines flies from there and you generally can only find their flights on their own website www.southwest.com Unfortunately , their bookings are only for a few months out- currently only through August 22. If you check every few days , you%26#39;ll be able to catch the new booking dates soon I would think.

I haven%26#39;t checked FLL- Orlando lately, but have gotten it for $49 o/w in the past. You may find better fares to Orlando from FLL in general since other airlines flying there compete with Southwest. They have several flights a day.

Cost wise its likely to be cheaper to Change car pick up to Miami and return it there. Than you wont have to pay a one way rental charge . Also saving money on the airfare for however many people are in your party .

Time wise there will not be more than an hour if that difference. Cos it may take you a lot longer to get through immigration and a car at Orlando than doing it at Miami

But then you have the hassle , cost and time of getting to Fort Lauderdale not something you will want to do after a 10 hour flight.

Since you%26#39;re going to rent a car anyway AND return it to Miami, it makes even more sense to rent it when you first arrive in Miami - no matter how long a flight it was getting in. LOL. You didn%26#39;t say how many there were in your party, but if you have two or more that%26#39;s another reason to rent when you get to Miami - unless money is no object.

It is really an easy drive to Orlando, once you get on the Turnpike, just set the cruise and go to sleep. Just Kidding!
