Quick Question. We are booked at the All Star resort. I have read that the transfers are long and slow. Would I be better off just getting a rental car? I booked through aaa so I would get free parking.
All Star Music...transfers or car rental?
well, being a Disney guest you gat free parking there anyway....but I would always rather have a car than not.The buses really are not that bad though.
All Star Music...transfers or car rental?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I HOPE that AAA just gets you ';preferred'; parking and not FREE parking. We were just there in March and had a rental car and the AAA parking pass, but chose to use Disney transportation because we thought it was more convenient and cheaper. I thought that the parking pass just gets you closer parking, but I have heard that those spots fill up quickly in the lots.
AAA does just give you a preferred parking spot and not free parking. Even then, you must get there very early in the day to get one of the preferred parking spaces for AAA (they do fill up).
We stayed at Pop Century last year which is relatively close to you and always used the Disney buses when going to the parks, as more relaxing and dropped off at the door. By the time you get parked in the car and walk to gate there can not be much difference in time. We hired a car from Alamo which was good for non-Disney parks and eating out, only cost about $400 for 2 weeks.
We stayed at All Star Sports last year and didn%26#39;t have a car.
We came straight off a Virgin flight from Manchester, checked in with the Magical Express and walked straight onto a bus to our resort. We were able to look around and see the sights en route and they played a disney video on the bus. The journey took no longer than 40 minutes, but it felt like 10.
We used the disney buses to get from place to place. We never had any problem and the longest wait we had was about 15 minutes (even at closing time at Epcot).
We had the dining plan, so we not only went to all of the parks, we went to several other hotels to eat at the restaurants and thought the transportation system was fantastic.
We found not driving to be completely hassle free, and we enjoyed being able to have a beer or cocktail whenever we felt like, without having to worry about driving.
We%26#39;ve stayed at the All Star Music Resort multiple times and have always used the Disney Transportation. The buses come pretty fast, and although they can be crowded, it%26#39;s still much easier than trying to get everywhere yourself. Even when we%26#39;ve driven to WDW, we usually don%26#39;t move our car until we%26#39;re ready to drive home.
