This is probably a stupid question, so forgove me now for asking it...but are jellyfish %26#39;seasonal%26#39;? Are they worse certain times of the year? We%26#39;ve been to Destin the past two years, both times the first two weeks in June. I can%26#39;t recall ever seeing one close to the shore or up on the shore. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!
are jellyfish seasonal?
My advice to you is to search this forum for jellyfish. The topic has been discussed ad nauseum.
Suffice it to say, no one can predict the jellyfish.
See this website for useful info:

Note that you can also get good info at this site on red tide, rip tide, water temperature and general beach safety...all very popular topics on this forum.

Hawkfish-
For the science minded, this one%26#39;s got you written all over it.
I wasn%26#39;t wanting anyone to %26#39;predict%26#39; the jellyfish, but was wondering if there was any scientific data that supported any particular time they were more abundant. You know, if they were bad at any certain time of the year...

Thus my post above. This guy%26#39;s a genius on water related topics. Hope he may have something to add.
';any scientific data that supported any particular time they were more abundant. You know, if they were bad at any certain time of the year...';....which is called a prediction!
Biological populations of any species do not behave according to set, rigid parameters. Rather, they respond to certain environmental stimuli (temperature, food, diurnal patterns, etc.). The specific response to said stimuli can be predicted using population statistical models. Sooooo....
SOOOOo maybe hawkfish can tell us.
