the last couple of times I have been to st augustine the homeless popluatin seems to have increased . we were on a ghost tour and the homeless were actually in the way of the tour guide when we were in the square . others were asking for money while we were walking along the road that is closed to cars , with all the stores and some eateries . it definetly did not give a safe feling .does anyone know if there has been any changes or plans to have police ';shoo'; the homeless along as they do it other areas that have a large amount of tourism
homeless in st augustine
It is actually illegal and the vagrants (or anyone else) will incur a hefty fine for panhandling on St. George Street (the road that is closed to cars). It is much better now, when were you here, as it has been much better for about 8 months? If one is panhandling on St. George, call the police they will take care of it. I have rarely seen anyone panhandling on St. George Street lately. The ';wonderful'; drummer is on Hypolita (which is allowed) and I find him much more irritating than a panhandler with his constant music-less beat. If there is a problem during the ghost tours, the tour narrator needs to report it!
