Anne Eaton vs. Bahia Honda

Hello all! Planning our first drive down to KW in June and were thinking of stopping at either of those beaches for Sunday morning, til around noon or 1pm. I know Eaton beach looks more secluded and has no concessions (we%26#39;d probably just pack a picnic) and Bahia has snorkeling tours and all that, but we just want somewhere to relax, not too crowded, and enjoy a little swimming.

Any pros/cons for either?

Everyone on this forum seems very friendly and helpful, so thanks in advance!

Anne Eaton vs. Bahia Honda

I have never herd of Anne Eaton Beach unless is Annie%26#39;s Beach up in Islamorada.

If that%26#39;s the case I would Definitely go to Bahia Honda.

Annie%26#39;s Beach has a lot of rock on the bottom and where it%26#39;s not rock it%26#39;s a little muddy.

Bahia Honda doesn%26#39;t get that crowded and the swimming is nice also and you can go snorkeling from the beach.

For the nicest swimming and snorkeling make a right when you get to your first stop sign after you pay to get in. Then go to the first parking lot on the left and park.

Walk up ( north ) the beach about 150 yards. This is where you want to be. We are usually there with no one around us and the ocean has a sandy bottom there and straight out is the best snorkeling.

Anne Eaton vs. Bahia Honda

I guess it is the same one b/c it%26#39;s in Islamorada.

Thanks for the input! Bahia it is!

Anne%26#39;s beach would be a nice rest stop for a sandwich or something but not a destination. Bottomtime gave good advice.

Definitely agree - Bahia Honda is TOPS. You can sink up to your knees in muck at Anne%26#39;s. It%26#39;s really pretty, but sinking totally grossed me out!

What about Sombrero Beach in Marathon?

Sombrero Beach is very nice as well. Click on my name to see the reviews I%26#39;ve done for Sombrero, Bahia Honda and Ft Zach including pictures. They are definitely our TOP 3 in the Florida Keys.

After all advice, decided on Bahia Honda. Plan on leaving Islamorada early sun am, feeding fish at Robbie%26#39;s if possible then spending a few hrs. at the beach. Hopefully we don%26#39;t lose track of time; I%26#39;d like to try and see some deer and eat pizza at No Name before finally arriving at KW.

That sunday is actually our anniversay, so hope we can make it in time to shower, change, and go to that culinary cruise that has been mentioned here before.

comments? I know it may sound like we%26#39;re planning a lot in a day, but we only have 5 nights in Florida and are trying to make the most of it!

btw, thanks for all the advice and responses. Really looking forward to rubbing elbows w/y%26#39;all!

I would have to say Sombrero Beach also it is very nice and the water is beautiful. Just a hint if you snorkle around to the front of the little jetty they have there, you can see so many tropical fish and sea life it is awesome. Also they have nice clean shower houses.

Bahia Honda is nice and has concessions etc. But as far as the beach itself goes, Sombrero is much nicer. And it%26#39;s free. Good swimming. I find it%26#39;s very rocky at Bahia Honda. Sunday at Anne%26#39;s beach is usually very crowded with the daytrippers from Miami area. There is a good deli right near Sombrero where you could pick up sandwiches - Marathon Deli - just pass the Sombrero Beach turn on the ocean side.

Oh rats, now reconsidering again. We don%26#39;t want to be somewhere too crowded and would love to see good %26#39;sea-life%26#39;! where is sombrero beach? (MM?) Think we could do it before pizza at No Name?
