Points on Licence

Hi all,

we are going to Florida next May for 2 weeks, we are hiring a car. I currently have 9 points on my driving licence and they will still be on next May. Will this affect anything, it%26#39;s through dollar, will they be OK?

hi when we went in 05 the travel ageny said we needed to have had our license for a year and no points.

i had only had mine 9mths and my mum had 6 points but they happily gave us the car at mco.

they just check it is a valid license and take a photo copy. shouldn%26#39;t have any problems

Thank you, thats reasuring. Just had a bit of a panic, Holiday is still over a year away, LOL.

FYI - if its anything like a foreigner coming here to the UK if you do get done for speeding for example then they%26#39;ll create a %26#39;dummy%26#39; driving record for use over there only....won%26#39;t effect your record here....just slow down ;-)

If you have the picture licence just take that one as the points don%26#39;t show on it. I have only taken my plastic photo one to hire a car and they always ok it, and have never asked for the paper one.

Just drive in a calm and collected way and you should be fine. The roads are better to drive on out there anyway.

I agree with the above. I have had 3 points on my license since Jan 2005 and have had no problems showing just the photo id part.

Why so many points what are you doing?

thanks to all that replied, believe it or not I am actually a Police officer and all these points were obtained from driving a Police vehicle, I was doing 97mph in a 50 and flashed by a static speed camera, however I was chasing a stolen motor vehicle which was used in a burglary but because my collar number was not attached to the incident I had to go to court and recieve 9 points! JUSTICE! Hope you don%26#39;t still think this is bad driving Nemmis?

take both parts of your licence, but you only have to show the photographic part...never asked about points..dont worry, unless you get another 3 points...lol..
