Just wondering if anyone ever been asked for a spare few dollars by a family when walking along I drive. When leaving wet and wild last October, me and my family were asked by a mother and daughter for a few dollars as they had their purse stolen and were unable to get back to their room in Disney. Well we give the money, (as you do) but as we walked on my wife said she could hear them chuckling to themselves. Was this genuine or an organised scam?
Has anyone been grifted on i-drive?
yes i have been asked by a woman and child, and a woman on her own - she claimed husband had took her purse and was in the bar getting drunk.
my reply is always ';i%26#39;m sorry as we are tourists we do not carry cash around';
i personally do not like getting my wallet out in view in circumstances like that.
i am sorry to say that i think these are organised scams

I offered to drop her off at a DTD as I was going to LBV but she declined. so did I.
I have also been asked for money by some who appear to have fallen on hard times and claiming that they had not eaten that day. So rather than hand over cash for them to buy booze and drugs I have nipped into the nearest take away and bought them a meal.
Most but not all have appreciated it.
Looks like loggy got himself ripped off then !!!
I remember a story I heard about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien hanging out together or something, and someone asked Lewis for money, and so Lewis gave him some. Tolkien said ';Why did you do that? He%26#39;ll just use it to drink.'; Lewis said ';Well if I didn%26#39;t give it to him, I%26#39;d use it to drink.';
Of course, on I-Drive, I would look very suspiciously at someone who is asking for money, but there might be someone legit possibly. If someone needs groceries or something, instead of giving money, I mht offer to buy some for them. If they%26#39;re just scamming, they may not go for it (if that%26#39;s not what they really need), or even if they scammed me out of a few groceries, at least they%26#39;re not using it for other things.
I remember once on the northside a guy asked me for a few bucks because his car was broken down, and needed to get a part or something to fix it. I offered to go to the auto parts store (there was one nearby) and buy it for him, but he got mad and left.
';I mht offer to buy some for them';
Meant to say ';might';.
i guy once come over and said he was some sort of traffic officer and said we had to pay a fine for j walking across i drive i just ignored him walked on and then told him to get lost he didn`t follow
