I have two daughters one of 12 and the other 17. They are freaked out by horror films but is horror night at universal studios that bad?
12+17 yr old and Universal Studios horror night?
In a word...yes.
If you%26#39;d prefer a more subdued Halloween party, consider the Mickey%26#39;s Not-So-Scarry Halloween party at Magic Kingdom instead.

Hi we tooke our 14, 10 and 9 year old last October for the first time and although some of the park employees are dressed and startle you they laughed. I just kept telling my kids that they were just like us only in costumes and if my little ones felt scared I just grabbed them next to me and closed their eyes. They don%26#39;t have to go into the haunted houses. Plus those lines are so long unless you buy the express pass. It was a fun experience and they are looking forward to going this year.
Hi Debs
My wife and I took our 2 sons who where then 11 %26amp; 13 years old ( 2years ago )and they loved it.
The haunted houses are pretty scary but it%26#39;s all part of the experience, but as mentioned in the previous post the queue%26#39;s can be upto 2-3hrs per house, so if you can get into the park as early as possible and move straight from one house to the next.
Cheers
Joe
hmm. well everyone%26#39;s different. i first went when i was 8 years old, and was scared but was ok. but then again horror films have never bothered me.
HHN IS that bad if you mean scary. it%26#39;s designed to immerse you into a horror film. so if your daughters can%26#39;t even handle a creepy movie, i don%26#39;t know how they%26#39;d do with this.
I go to HHN every year and I love horror movies. So to me it really is not that scary. I will tell you there were a few things that I know may scare them.
One year they had a fog machine pumping fog into a section of the park that you had to pass through to get to the other side. It was so thick that you could not see 2 feet in front of you. Hideous looking clowns would jump out right in front of you and start screaming. I don%26#39;t scare easliy but this really freaked me out.
They have crazy looking people walking around with chain saws (minus the chain). They will walk right up to you and act like they are going to cut your legs off.
Pretty much if you look scared they will go after you. It is always the teenage girls that these characters go after because they scream so much and act so scared.
When you walk through the haunted houses things do jump out at you and if you run they will chase you. It is like you are in the horror movie. They are not allowed to touch you though.
So if your girls think they can handle this they will be fine.
One a side note....if you go on a Thursday night it is not nearly as crowded as Fri. or Sat. And you have to go see the Bill %26amp; Ted show. It is hilarious!!
I am going to have to say to skip HHN. It is scary! It%26#39;s all in good fun but it is intense.
My teenaged son said it was gory and disturbing more than scary. And he is no lightweight.
Try Mickey%26#39;s not so scary halloween party at MK, it is a lot of fun for everyone and the parade is fantastic, waits for rides are almost non existant. if your kids are fraid or do not like horror films then i do not reccomend Universal Horror nights.
Thank you everyone for your time and comments much appreciated 8=]
